Children and youth living in low-income housing are often unaware of the diversity and beauty of the natural world in their own back yards. VOA’s newest program “Kids at Home in the Wild!” seeks to introduce them to the power of the Northwest’s beautiful outdoors to teach, inspire, and heal as part of a foundation to becoming strong, healthy, interconnected adults. You can be the positive role model to bring this experience to youth by volunteering just a few hours a week. Join our team of staff and volunteers on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, June 25th – August 2nd, for hiking, plant identification, survival basics, journaling, sharing, and craft activities. All you need is a love of nature, children of all ages, and working with diverse communities. We will provide initial and on-going training in effective communication, tutoring, and group facilitation.
