Volunteer as a member of a team to lead participants in preparing and cooking the week’s menu, eating, cleaning up and sharing tips on cooking, budgeting and more. From shopping for recipe ingredients, to leading classes, to communicating key messages, volunteers make our nutrition education program work.

Time commitment and schedule
Volunteers must attend an orientation session one week before classes begin. Classes are held mornings, afternoons or evenings at the same time each week and are two hours per session. We schedule classes on-site at our northeast Portland and Beaverton facilities, and at off-site locations throughout the community.
- In December for classes between January and March
- In March for classes between April and June
- In June for classes between July and September
- In September for classes between October and December
No volunteers are scheduled mid-season, but potential volunteers are welcome to observe a class at any time.
