Homecoming Week is coming soon, and this year Marylhurst is bringing everyone together in a new way: through service to our community! Up to 40 Marylhurst University alumni, faculty, staff and/or students have the opportunity to participate in the 2010 Marylhurst University Homecoming Service Projects. Please join your Marylhurst community in one or both of the following service projects:
On Wednesday, October 13th from 10am to 12pm, volunteers will repackage and sort bulk non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and frozen foods at the Oregon Food Bank Action Center to be sent to Oregon families in need. (Please see attached photo for example of service.)
On Thursday, October 28th from 12pm to 3pm, Marylhurst Alumn, Brenda Suteu’s organization, Family Stepping Stones will be hosting its second annual fundraiser and grand opening luncheon celebration. Family Stepping Stones’ mission is to preveent child abuse and neglect through early intervention efforts that focus on developing and supporting children, strengthening parents and preserving the family. Volunteers will take registrations at the door, help set up and break down of the event and work in the kitchen.
If you are interested in participating in one or both of the Marylhurst Homecoming Service Projects, please contact Amanda Baker, Marylhurst Service Program Coordinator at (503) 534-4063 or abaker@marylhurst.edu by Wednesday, October 6th to attain volunteer details and to secure a volunteer spot. Thank you for your support and participation in the effort to eradicate hunger and serve families in need.
Working together, we can make a difference!
